If you want to know how emphasising on quality and trust can take a business to great heights, you should surely visit Amruta Hatcheries and Foods establishment in Amravati. A person yearned to empower women by developing Amruta’s Chicken as a brand and took the leap to success. His name is Dr Sharad Bharsakale.
Dr Sharad Bharsakale, who is loyal to his work, never applied for any award. He says, he has no time for it. He would rather concentrate on his work and this approach has given him a special position among people. Till 2005, poultry farming in Vidarbha was mainly free. So, there was a good demand for animal feed. But after that, many big companies started poultry farming on a contract basis and started providing animal feed and other facilities on their own. As a result, the number of customers dropped drastically. Those were the challenging times for Sharad Bharsakale. He realised it on time and in 2013, Dr Bharsakale himself decided to start contract poultry farming. For that, a hatchery with a capacity of 2.5 lakh per month was set up. This industry provided employment to hundreds of people. Most companies focus on big and economically capable farmers. However, Dr Sharad Bharsakale concentrated on the economic upliftment of small landholders. He created special models of 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 birds and worked out schemes so that those farmers would get ₹ 15,000-30,000 per month. The increase in rates would directly benefit the farmers. It usually takes 3.5 kg of feed for a bird to gain more than 2 kg in 1.5 months. Farmers who manage to increase the weight by saving on the prescribed animal feed, are given a bonus of ₹ 20 per kg on the saved animal feed.
